ABOUT EASTERN CAR WORKS
Begun in the late 1970s by Bill and Ellen Glass as the E&B Valley line of styrene railcar kits, the line was later sold to Gerard Ehrlen who has continued adding new kits, parts and trucks which are made in the USA. These undecorated, injection molded styrene passenger and freight cars are highly detailed and assemble with relative ease. Eastern pioneered the "Core Kit" concept. Their passenger car cores are employed by Cannonball, Red Ball, Bethlehem Car and other manufacturers of prototype specific HO passenger cars where appropriate.

EASTERN CAR WORKS KIT AVAILABILITY UPDATE Jan 3, 2006

Through most of 2005 we have posted website notice that delivery of ECW KITS was uncertain and email inquiry about availability should be made before ordering. Those who ordered anyhow were sent personal messages. We can no longer justify the time for engaging in individual correspondence arranging refunds in those situations. You are still encouraged to email first. All ECW kit orders now received will be accepted with the understanding it is OK to back order until the items are again available. Check cashing or phoned credit cards will not be charged until shipping. Web shopping cart discounted orders ARE charged by paypal when you place the order. We will continue shipping from our own existing inventory on a first come basis. Nearly all trucks and parts are still in good supply, as well as some kits. Please read on for an understanding of the situation.

Contrary to rumors and fears: Eastern Car Works has not gone out of business and is not changing hands. ECW is not able to engage in individual correspondence or emails. No listed products are slated for discontinuance, in fact brand new products may be expected after regular business is back on a timely basis.

We spent a good portion of yesterday morning in conference with the owner of Eastern Car Works and are happy to report that kit availability will be improving soon. Gerard will work closely with us to resume availability on the most needed kits as possible. Resuming availability WILL be a "many month" project so your continued patience is requested.

We can now tell you: The location of Eastern Car own warehousing and packaging has been in a "state of moving" for some time. Eastern Car is now moved and in a state of "restoring order." We certainly understand, having had to vacate a building (unexpectedly sold) and having had a fire, ourselves. If you have ever moved, you should too. You had to continue a "normal life" with abnormal conditions.

There are cases of many different parts involved in packaging each different kit. They must all be properly located before a packaging of a specific kit can begin. Those parts and supplies that were depleted could not prudently be reordered/ rerun during moving nor the current "reorganizing." This likely means the DC flats and Osgood Bradley coaches will be among the last kits to again become available. The first kits we anticipate receiving in the coming months will be Eastern Cabooses and PRR P70 series cars. Your patient wait is appreciated. Your "reminders" or "when?" to us will certainly not speed up the process at Eastern Car Works. The answer is "as soon as possible" and we will know the date when we receive the shipment.
